THE BIG DATA GLOSSARY
People hear a lot about big data, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and neural networks, but they
don’t necessarily know a lot about them. Therefore, as an introduction to this entire exhibit dealing with
this very topic, let’s see what we are talking about. We have prepared an interactive dictionary, a
comprehensive lexicon of terms related to big data.
How does big data differ from non-big data? The very term big data refers to extensive and complex
data sets that cannot be processed by standard technologies. Often, such sets are so extensive that a
person cannot even examine or grasp, let alone process them. To process these sets, we use computer
algorithms, which in a way emulate humans in the domain of thinking, but use the computing power of
computers. These are the tools of machine learning, an area within artificial intelligence that deals with
recognizing regularities in the sea of information we feed it. Such regularities could not be observed by
the human eye.
The dictionary you enter is not just a letter on the wall. It comes to life on your phone. Scan the QR code

the exhibit will come to life on the screen and communicate the most important concepts that we
wanted to present to you.
